i'm pretty bummed out about breaking my leg. i know that in the end everything's gonna be fine, but it's going to be a long time before i can really do anything, and i had so much to do. i was supposed to start school at the diver's institute the monday after my wednesday crash. along with that my main source of income was going to be living off of my student loans, which have been put on hold since i'm not actually in school right now. the bank allows 120 days from the original start date to start school before they take the money back, i seriously doubt i'm going to be ready that soon. it's going to be at least 3 weeks before i can even start to put any weight on that foot, and the school requires me to be healed up 100% and pass a dive physical before i can get to start. so, unfortunately i'm going to have to reapply for all new loans, but fortunately school starts every month on the 15th except december, so pretty much as soon as i'm ready i can get that back into motion.
my second source of income was going to be turning wrenches and slinging whips part time on the weekends at second ascent cycle/ski shop across the street from my new place . that obviously isn't happening and missed my interview that was set for the day after i crashed. this really sucked, because it was pretty obvious they were going to hire me. luckily for me though, Nicole called them and let them know that i was in the hospital and would not be making it to the interview. we later went into the shop last tuesday while i sill had the external fixture screwed into my leg and apologize for not making it to the interview and for no longer being available to work. they were totally cool about it and it was no problem, they still want to hire me, i'll just be tied to a stand building bikes in the back or something. at least i assume they'll want to kind of have me out of site, a dude with a broken leg that required two very long and serious surgeries to fix because he crashed the very same thing they are there to purchase, or maintain or whatever being around isn't exactly the best for business. i'm pretty damn stoked that they're still down with hiring me to work with them, all we're waiting for is the doc's permission once he lets me go back to being upright, but more importantly right now, my incisions need to heel he says, which is why i will be on my back for at least the next two weeks with my foot elevated.
for the time being though, i'm sans income and broke on top of being broken, and my dad s being so generous, he's paying my rent for me, and i think my electric bill as well. and Nic is covering me with my phone bill and doing her best to take care of me. I'm so thankful for the both of them. my dad was even talking about flying out here to help take care of me, i think that'd be a little over doing it though, it's not like i'm allowed to do anything other than the normal stuff like going to the bathroom or the fridge, and i'd rather do those things myself as i need some kind of break from being a big lump on the couch, so it's not like there's much for him to actually do for me if he were to come.
i got home from the second surgery yesterday, it went pretty well so the doctor says, i'm pretty confident in what he's got to say. he took off the external fixture and made two new incisions where he put in plates and about a dozen or so screws to hold my bones together. his assistant said my leg's pretty much bomb proof now. it's all wrapped in a two piece plaster cast so that it can be opened up if need be because of swealing, which his assistant did end up having to do at one point yesterday morning when it felt like the top of my foot was on fire. i'm so lucky she was in the room next door to me, the nurse was some old not so fluent in english gal who, despite my simple explanation of exactly what was happening and what kind of pain it was putting me in, for some reason couldn't seem to grasp the problem i was having.
being on all these pills and such has kind of got me fucked up. all i want to do is go ride my bike and fuck my wife, and neither are happening. i have a feeling neither will for some time either. i wonder which will happen first actually. i hope the latter. i wonder how these meds might effect all that business.
i'm tired and kind of starting to ramble in my head. i think i should stop writing now. here is what bob and i will be doing from now on until next time.
adios.
